  1. GENERAL INFORMATION

 

The main purpose of this program is to prepare kindergarten teachers for 0-6 years old children. All of the graduates are hired by Ministry of National Education and private schools.  Another purpose of the subdepartment is to give graduate (master degree) education in the area of Preschool Education.

 

Research areas of the staffs at the subdepartment are as follows: child development and early child  education.

 

Grading system at the subdepartment as follows: FF=0.00, FD= 0.50, DD= 1.00, DC= 1.50, CC= 2.00, CB= 2.50, BB= 3.00, BA= 3.50, AA= 4.00:

 

In master degree program, CC is required to pass a course but BB  is required as mean to be graduated. After completing courses, a research study as thesis and dissertations is required to complete the degrees.

Course Description: Basic concepts such as science, scientific method and research; finding problem and stating it in the research; stating hypotesis, literature reviewing techniques; research models and data gathering techniques.

Course Description: The course contains basic concepts of statistics aplied to education and application of parametric and nonparametric techniques which are used in social sciences. These techniques are taught by using SPSS statistical program.

Course Title: Early Childhood Education in Different Countries

Course Description: Participants in this graduate seminar, all of whom are assumed to be engaging in their own personal journeys as early childhood teacher educators, will examine issues related to the preparation and ongoing professional development of caregivers and teachers of young children (birth through age six). We will do this by taking a global perspective on early childhood teacher education, and in fact on early childhood education in general. Finally, we will compare the issues and problems in different countries with the ones in Turkey.
